Information, not legal advice
The site, blog posts and free checklists give general information about the FTC Safeguards Rule (16 CFR Part 314) and information security. They are not legal advice and do not create a client relationship or make DesignatedQI your Qualified Individual. Requirements depend on your business, so consult your own attorney about your legal obligations. A client relationship exists only under a signed agreement with us.
Products and services
- DIY Toolkit: governed by its License and Terms of Use, included with the download and shown at checkout. Purchases are processed by Stripe, which acts as the seller of record, and its terms also apply.
- Program Setup, Managed QI and staff training: governed by our Client Services Agreement and the Order Form you sign.
- Refunds: see our Refund Policy.
- Prices and descriptions on the site may change. The price that applies is the one shown at checkout or on your signed Order Form.
Our content
The site's text, checklists, graphics, videos and logo belong to DesignatedQI or its licensors. You may view, download and print free materials for your own business's use. You may not resell, republish or share them publicly, or remove our notices, without our written permission.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Attempt to break into, scan, test or disrupt the site or its systems without our written permission.
- Use the site to send spam or harmful code, or to impersonate anyone.
- Copy the site in bulk by automated means.
- Use the site for anything unlawful.
If you believe you've found a security issue on our site, please report it to hello@designatedqi.com. We appreciate good-faith reports.
Links to other sites
The site links to outside resources such as FTC and IRS guidance. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content.

The site and free materials are provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, including accuracy, completeness, merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. Rules and guidance change, and we may not update every page right away.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, DesignatedQI is not liable for any indirect, consequential or incidental damages arising from your use of the site or free materials. Our total liability for any claim about the site or free materials is limited to $100. Paid products and services are governed by their own terms.
Governing law
Georgia law governs these terms. Any dispute about the site will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Forsyth County, Georgia.
Changes
We may update these terms by posting a new version here with its date. Continuing to use the site means you accept the updated terms.
